Yeah Yeah Yeahs Turn Anniversary Tour Into Climate Action

The art punk icons prove that artistic legacy and environmental activism can powerfully converge.

Twenty-five years into their career, Yeah Yeah Yeahs are using their Hidden in Pieces anniversary tour to demonstrate something remarkable: how established artists can leverage their cultural capital for meaningful change. As the New York trio performs deep cuts and fan favorites across the US, they're quietly revolutionizing what it means to tour with purpose.

Thanks to a collaboration with Plus1, a dollar on each ticket sold in the US is donated to ClientEarth, continuing a partnership that began with their 2022 comeback album 'Cool It Down.' That critically acclaimed record didn't just mark their return after a nine-year hiatus—it established them as one of the small but growing number of major acts willing to directly address climate themes in their music.

This approach represents a fascinating evolution for a band that helped define the early 2000s New York sound. Yeah Yeah Yeahs have found ways to weave environmental consciousness into their artistic DNA without sacrificing their signature intensity.

The partnership showcases an increasingly important model for artist activism. When fans stream 'Spitting off the Edge of the World' (the haunting Perfume Genius collaboration from 'Cool It Down'), they're engaging with climate themes. And when fans attend one of the show on this tour, they're funding actual legal battles against corporate environmental damage.
