Melanie Calero joined ClientEarth as an attorney in September 2025 and is based in New York. Her work focuses on using commercial law to advance climate and environmental accountability within the U.S. corporate and financial sectors. 

Experience

Melanie began her career as a commercial litigation associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York. Immediately prior to joining ClientEarth, Melanie served as an attorney on the Litigation team at the Natural Resources Defense Council, where she litigated a range of environmental, energy, and administrative law cases.

Education

Melanie holds a bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in environmental studies from New York University and a J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was a James Kent Scholar. Melanie is a member of the state bar of New York.
